About Us

Amoeba Access is a specialist access consultancy firm with a vision to ameliorate universal access in the built environment. Established in 2013, we work with organisations across Australia to create environments that are inclusive, functional, and accessible for people of all abilities.

While accessibility legislation sets important minimum requirements, we believe that the built environment should go beyond compliance. Our approach promotes the principles of Universal Design, which focuses on designing spaces that can be used comfortably, safely, and independently by the widest range of people possible—regardless of age, ability, or mobility.

Our team of experienced consultants is well versed in relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and supports construction industry professionals and stakeholders in meeting obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) and the National Construction Code. However, our work extends beyond regulatory compliance to help clients integrate accessibility into the overall design quality, functionality, and long-term usability of their buildings and facilities.

We deliver practical and strategic Access Consulting services, including:

          • Disability Action Plans
          • Existing building accessibility audits
          • Access reviews for design and construction projects
          • Strategic facility upgrade planning
          • Advice on inclusive design and accessibility best practice

Through these services, we help organisations identify barriers, improve accessibility, manage risk, and develop long-term strategies for creating inclusive environments. Accessibility is fundamentally about people and participation. Inclusive environments support individuals with disability, older people, families with children, temporary injuries, and anyone who may experience barriers when interacting with the built environment. By embedding universal design principles early in planning and design processes, organisations can create spaces that are more welcoming, flexible, and sustainable for the whole community. Our clients include architects, developers, building designers, project managers, legal advisory professionals, and both private and government organisations. We collaborate closely with project teams to ensure accessibility considerations are integrated throughout planning, design, construction, and facility management.

Our experience spans a broad range of sectors, including:

          • Commercial and residential developments
          • Transport infrastructure
          • Hospitality and hotels
          • Educational institutions
          • Places of worship
          • Scientific research facilities
          • Hospitals and healthcare facilities
          • Sports and recreation venues
          • Public buildings
          • Retail and office premises

At Amoeba Access, our goal is to help organisations move beyond minimum compliance and create built environments that genuinely support inclusion, independence, dignity, and equal access for everyone.
